Show Notes
- Thanks to all the listeners who submitted a name for our new cat. In the end, we decided to name her “Callie.”
- With oil at record prices, we are going to be staying close to home this summer. High energy costs are leading at least one farmer to switch back to using mules, an idea we talked about last fall after Alert Listener Dan sent us a link to this article.
- There will be one notable exception to our staying close to home this summer. As was noted in a blog post last weekend, we recently found out that two of Jen’s cousins will be coming from Rome, Italy to visit us in early August. We met them when we were in Europe two years ago and we had a great time with them, so they are coming to see us. We already plan on taking them to NYC for a few days, but are looking for suggestions as to things we should show them in Upstate. Due to time constraints, we are looking for things in the Albany/Syracuse/Rochester/Binghamton areas or points in between. We may end up taking up out to Niagara Falls, but time might not make that an option. If anyone has any suggestions, we are all ears! Either email us at radiofreeupstate@gmail.com or leave your suggestions in the comments box.

Hey all,
I am taking a break from brewing beer and just realized that it has been over two months since we have podcasted, and over a month since I have posted anything new at all. Jen and I are fine, and we hope to have a podcast out next weekend. The reason for the delay is that this time of year is the busiest for both Jen and I. Jen just had her last concert of the school year, so things are starting to wind down a little bit for her. At the same time, this is the busiest time of year where I work (NYS Assembly) because we are in the last month of the two-year legislative session. That being the case, there are going to be a lot of late nights for me between now and June 23rd (the scheduled end of the legislative session) as I must be at the office whenever the Assembly is in session.
On a lighter note, we recently found out that two of Jen’s cousins will be coming from Rome, Italy to visit us this August. We met them when we were in Europe two years ago and we had a great time with them, so they are coming to see us (as well as taking a brief sojourn to visit some other relatives in the suburbs of Detroit).
